Jeffery J. Sheldon

President & Chief Executive Officer

 

Mr. Sheldon has over 24 years of leadership & management experience in business & product development, strategic planning, technology transfer, domestic & international negotiations, marketing, finance, engineering, operations, and start-up company formation & funding.  Throughout his career, Mr. Sheldon has been involved in the creation, evaluation, implementation or commercialization of high & biomedical technology. 

 

Mr. Sheldon currently serves as the General Partner/Managing Director of CitareTx Investment Partners I, LP/CitareTx Management, LLC, a medical device venture development, investment, and management company and serves as the Chairman and CEO of two of its portfolio companies:  EMIT Corporation, an emergency medical interventional technologies company; and Houston Medical Robotics, Inc., an image guided hand-held medical robotics company.  In addition, Mr. Sheldon serves as President & CEO of Yguana Entertainment, Inc., a media and entertainment company.  Mr. Sheldon is an active member of the Houston Technology Center Board of Directors and has several other financial interests in non-medical projects & companies where he serves as a chief executive officer as well.

 

Prior to founding CitareTx Investment Partners I, LP, Mr. Sheldon served as Chairman & CEO of Nittany Polymedics, Inc., an advanced polymer and polymer compound company focused on the dental, orthopedic, anesthesiology, radiology, cardiology, and other medical applications.  Mr. Sheldon also founded IDev Technologies, Inc., a fully integrated medical device company focused on commercializing interventional cardiology, radiology, and vascular surgery products, including, but not limited to:  peripheral vascular stents, thrombectomy systems, and foreign body retrieval devices.  Mr. Sheldon served as the Chairman, President, & CEO for the first six years of operation and President and COO for two years thereafter.  During his tenure at IDev Technologies, Inc., the company secured over $50 million of private equity & venture financing, established a fully integrated operating infrastructure, obtained ISO13485:2003 quality system certification, received FDA 501(k) clearance & CE-mark for eight medical products, and launched all eight products into the world-wide market.

 

Before founding IDev Technologies, Inc. Mr. Sheldon served as Director of Technology Development at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center where he was responsible for commercializing technology emanating from the research & development efforts, construct of the institution’s venture capital investment program, strategic planning for the development of a biomedical research/business park, and launch of several new start-up companies.  Mr. Sheldon also founded the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston Technology Management Office and was instrumental in the planning & launch of several start-up companies.  Mr. Sheldon also served in several leadership roles at a Rockwell Space Operations Company, a NASA Space Shuttle program prime contractor. 

 

Mr. Sheldon holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics, with distinction, from the University of Minnesota and a M.B.A. from the University of Houston - Clear Lake.
